UWA COACH & SELECTION COMMITTEE

UWA Uni Games Training will commence in approximately 3 weeks (venue, day and time TBC), with one 2hr session per week. Candidates for the selection committee will ideally have Nationals-level experience and be able to attend training for the first 3-4 weeks, at which point they will select a reduced training squad. The selection committee will comprise both UWA representatives and members of the wider WA Ultimate community.

Coaching applicants will be required to attend training each week up until Uni Games. It is likely that there will be extra training sessions and scratch matches on weekends in the lead up to Uni Games. Candidates will ideally have Nationals-level experience and preference will be given to those who can attend Uni Games. Some financial support from UWA Sports and/or the club may be possible to help the succesful applicant attend.

UNI GAMES TRAINING

Preliminary training and tryouts for Uni Games will start 2-3 weeks after Nationals. Date/Time/Venue to be confirmed. All UWA students (and interested non-students) are encouraged to come along. We hope to have a preliminary squad (not necessarily the AUG team) selected by the end of Semester 1. A seletion committee is to be appointed, including both club members and people from the wider WA Ultimate community.

UWA SOCIAL HAT TOURNAMENT + WA REGIONAL QUALIFIERS

The UWA Ultimate Frisbee Club will be hosting a Social Hat tournament to kick off the new uni year! We encourage all members of the Perth Frisbee community, especially SUL players and new UWA club members, to come along and get involved. Everyone is welcome, no matter what their ability, so bring along your mates too and get them hooked on ulti! Teams will be decided on the day, and there will be a few experienced players on each team to ensure an even contest.

In conjunction with the Social Hat tournament, UWA will also be hosting the WA Regional qualifiers for the Australian Ultimate Championships to be held in Coffs Harbour in April. This is a great opportunity for all those new to the game to watch high-level men’s and women’s matches. The Regional qualifiers will follow the Social Hat finals and presentations and there will be a BBQ and drinks for sale, so we encourage everyone to stick around and check it out.

What is it?

An AFDA number is your membership to the Australian Flying Disc Association. You need this to play in local leagues run by WAFDA (SUL, PUL etc) and some tournaments (Witches Hat, Solstice). AFDA membership is free and all players with an AFDA number are insured.

How do you get one?

1. Go the AFDA Website (www.afda.com)
2. Click on the big red button that says JOIN on the right hand side of the home page
3. Fill in the appropriate fields.

To sign up for a tournament, you will need to return to the AFDA home page and login. Then, go to the Tournaments section near the top of the left hand menu and select Register. Find the league or tournament you're interested in and join up!
